North Fork Koyukuk River The North Fork of the Koyukuk River runs through the place which Bob Marschall in the late 1920 calles "The Gates of the Arctic". This is where our canoe trip to the samll town Bettles starts. This trip is a classic. For more information check 2007 Hiking schedule
Hikers above the North Fork Koyukuk river Photo: Chlaus Lötscher _____________________________________________________ Middle Fork Koyukuk River An excellent short trip to include into an Alaska journey that gives the traveller a wonderful chance to experience for a few days Alaskas magnificent wilderness away from the highways without the commitment to a long stay in the wilderness and camping. We start in Fairbanks by van and travel the Dalton highway into the heart of the Brooks Range at Coldfooot. There we board our canoes or rafts to paddle the Middle Fork of the Koyukuk river, camp a couple of nights in the wilderness before a bush plane picks us up and flys us to the small remote town Bettles. After a night at the Bettles lodge which is registered as a "national historic landmark" we fly by commuter plane back to Fairbanks. __________________________________________________________________________ Arrigetch Peaks Trekking and Alatna River: The granite mountains of the Arrigetch Peaks offer the most incredible sight of the Brooks Range. After arriving on the Alatna River by float plane from Bettles, we will explore this scenic wonder during a four day hike. Afterwards we paddle with inflatable canoes the meandering Alatna River. The Alatna river is in the US register as a"national wild and scenic river", The valley of the Alatna is home to grizzly bear, moose, wolves and other furbearers. The trips can also be booked separately. |

Noatak

Noatak River which by the UNESCO was decalred a "World Biosphere Heritage Site". We start with a bushflight in Bettles and travel by canoe. The first few days we find us in the "Gates of the Arctic National Park" then we enter "Noatak National Preserve. We travel all the way to the Native Village of Noatak, where we board a motorboat and travel the rest of the now huge and slowly maeandering river to the Kotzebue Sound and across the Sound to the town of Kotzebue. Kongakut
River: This river flows near the Canadian border from the Brooks Range through the coastal plain into the Beaufort Sea. It is a major migration route of the Porcupine River Caribou herd, which during this time wanders from their winter range to the calving grounds of ANWR.

The coast of the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge ANWR is an outstanding place for nature photography. Along the coast we establish a fix campsite and from there we explore the cost and the tundra of the coastal plain. We search for wildlife such as arctic fox, we photograph the arctic tundra that has just awakened from the long winter. Flowers are blooming, birds are nesting, waterfowl has arrived, spring in the arctic has arrived while along the coast pack ice still is drifting.We reach the camp from fairbanks with a flight to Deadhorse, the center of the Arctic Alaska Oilfields at Pruhoe Bay. from there we fly by bushplane to our campsite along the Arctic Ocen. Our return trip inlcudes a van ride from Deadhorse through the Brooks Range back to Fairbanks. This trip offers additional opportunities for photography. River:This river flows through the heart of Lake Clark National Park. A valley absolutely wild with hanging glaciers, rugged mountains, huge rock walls and awesome granite spires. Waterfalls tumble down and wildlife is abundant. With little luck we see moose, black and brown bear, even wolves have been seen on some trips. It is about the most scenic valley in Alaska. We fly from Kenai to Lake Clark Pass and reach the river by a portage. At the end we get picked up by a floatplane on Lake Clark. 5 days. Dates are open to fit your schedule. Beaver Creek: A “National Wild and Scenic river“ the Beaver Creek offers a wonderful canoe experience through the White Mountains NE of Fairbanks. A great trip after spring break up when nature has broken the grip of winter. If you want to and feel after the guided part confident, you can continue the trip unguided for another appr. two weeks all the way to the Yukon river and arrange a pick up with us at the bridge of the Dalton highway.
